Today’s adventure begins in Wadi Arbiyeen, where the karst plateau of the Eastern Hajar towers 1500 m above the coastal plain. Drive through the wadi and visit the idyllic waterfalls followed by a halt at Bimah sinkhole with its azure saltwater pool.
Continue to the green Wadi Tiwi with its inviting oases where you have a bite and the chance to walk. Thereafter you stop by Bibi Maryam, the remains of the ancient city Qualhat. On your return you follow the trail, transformed into a panoramic road, touching the sea from time to time and overlloking magnificent white beaches and the Indian Ocean. Departure from Muscat towards Quriyat, the city of fishermen, through a rugged and mountainous path up to the 400-year-old fort of the same name which we will visit before heading to the typical Fish Market, where the great fish variety allows both a local and an export market. One of the most popular places to visit is the fishing town of Qurayyat which will be our first stop where we will have the opportunity to visit the ancient fort and the picturesque fish market, where a large variety of fish is exchanged for local consumption and for export. We take the waterfront route where you can spot, with a little luck, flamingos and eagles between fine sand beaches and crystal clear lagoons to then reach the coast, for a visit to the Sinkhole of Bimah, a splendid natural limestone pool of blue water in the middle of the desert. After a stop in Bimah, through a path in the mountains, Wadi Arbayeen is waiting for us, a lush oasis with pools of water set among date palms, to enjoy a relaxing picnic. return to Muscat will be via Wadi Mazara.
