The tour starts with a visit to the Grand Mosque of Sultan Qaboos, considered the main mosque of the Sultanate of Oman, and is allowed every day except Friday, from 08.00 to 11.00 in appropriate and appropriate clothing for a place of worship (women entirely covered and with scarves on their heads and men in long trousers). Follow one of the two Museums, Bait al Zubair or Bait al Baranda, to retrace the history and development of Oman up to the present day and then continue with a walk along the Corniche promenade to the lively fish market and the famous bazaar of Muttrah. Finally we will continue for a photo stop at Palazzo al Alam, a splendid building flanked by the forts west of Mirani and east of Jalali, located at the entrance of the bay Muscat and now transformed into museums during the reign of His Majesty 'Qaboos Bin Said, which offer a wide range of insights into the rich cultural heritage of Oman.
First Highlight of the day is the visit of the world's 5th biggest mosque, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. It impresses with a 14 m long Swarovski chandelier and the largest hand-woven carpet on earth [please adhere to the dress code]. You pass the diplomatic quarter on your way to Old Muscat with its colorful Al Alam Palace which is flanked by two Portugese forts. Al Mirani and Al Jalali. Visit Bait Al Baranda Museum with ethnologic exhibits from private collections. Afterwards drive along the panoramic cornice to Muttrah Souk, the oldest market in Oman. Here you find time to stroll around and hunt some bargains. Tour in a saloon or minibus inc. entrance fees.
